TV Personality Star Jones to visit Hampton University Journalism School

Hampton, Va. — The Hampton University Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications welcomes Emmy nominated TV host and attorney Star Jones to campus on Thursday, Nov 3 to conduct an interview and talk with students. 
Jones is best known for her former role on the ABC network talk show "The View." Jones is also a business executive, best-selling author, and former New York City homicide prosecutor. She has worked in television for nearly 25 years, offering a fresh perspective to the day’s most talked about crime and justice, political and sociological issues from the worlds of news, entertainment, politics and pop culture.

Skilled in law, media and business, Jones presently serves as President of Professional Diversity Network, a publicly traded company (NASDAQ: IPDN) and President of the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW). As such, Ms. Jones leads a nationwide team dedicated to supporting and advocating for PDN’s over 10-million member network of diverse job seekers along with providing expanded networking and career opportunities for the more than 850,000 diverse professional women members in the over 200 local chapters and 20,000+ virtual eChapter members of NAPW.

An accomplished author, Jones has written two best-selling, non-fiction books. Her third book, Satan’s Sisters, was published in 2011 and is being developed into a VH1 network television series for 2017 with Jones as an Executive Producer. Ms. Jones is also heavily involved in numerous philanthropic efforts. Since 2011, Jones, a heart disease survivor herself, has been the face of the American Heart Association's (AHA) National Go Red efforts as National Volunteer.

Jones continues to be seen in various media appearances as a diversity and inclusion and women's health and empowerment advocate and legal and media analyst. A highly sought after motivational speaker, Ms. Jones frequently lectures on a variety of topics, including law, politics, race, gender equality, networking, women’s empowerment, pop culture, fitness and heart health.
