School of Business Renamed in Honor of COL(R) James T. George, Class of 1958
04/05/2019 - #226

HAMPTON, Va. (April 5, 2019) - The Hampton University School of Business was renamed as the James T. George School of Business, named after COL (R) James T. George, Hampton University alumnus class of 1958.

Dr. William R. Harvey delivered remarks and in the remarks he referenced there were two reasons he was elated to be at the ceremony 1) COL(R) James T. George is a member of the Board of Trustees and the Board is his boss. 2) COL George was a Colonel and Dr. Harvey was only a Lieutenant Colonel and he said, "So I guess I must salute you" and he rendered a hand salute.  He also said COL George had made a seven figure donation to the School and was worthy of having his name on the building.

COL(R) George discussed the role of the business school, but he emphasized the need for ethics, having a business strategy, being competitive, telling the truth, and finding resources. I took from his comments it takes land, labor, and capital to be a successful businessman.
