HAMPTON, Va. (June 13, 2018) — Hampton University is hosting an Equestrian Summer Camp starting on June 18 for kids aged 7-17 who are interested in gaining knowledge of all types of horses, riding equipment and terminology. This day camp uses friendly, trained horses to make reading fun and enjoyable. Registration is available now online.
The Reading Interest Development & Enhancing Riding Skills (R.I.D.E.R.S.) summer day camp program held at Hampton University’s newly renovated 1360 N. Mallory Street stables begins on June 18 and ends on July 13, 2018. The cost ranges from $140 - $175 and there are regular and advanced sessions available.
“This program is the best hidden treasure at Hampton University,” said Dr. Rodney Gaines, Camp Director and Assistant Professor in the Hampton University’s Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. “This is my first year as Director of the camp and I’m really excited about it. A lot of folks don’t know about the program or the facility and it’s really an amazing program. I hope many kids are able to join us this summer.”
Each day, campers will not only participate in R.I.D.E.R.S., but also other traditional camp activities, such as arts & crafts and games. At the end of the camp session, participants will have a new understanding of horses while getting the chance to meet and make friends with the same interests.
