HONOLULU, HI. (May 14, 2021) Major Brandon W. Richards, Class of 2005 was recently selected for promotion to Lieutenant Colonel by the FY21, Lieutenant Colonel, Army Competitive Categories, Promotion Selection Board & Release Date: 27 April 2021. 

Major (Promotable) Brandon Richards served two tours in Iraq, first as an Armor Officer Platoon Leader in the 25th Infantry Division and second as a Military Intelligence Officer as part of the 1st Iraqi Federal Police Intelligence Transition Team 1st Infantry Division. Upon completing those tours, Major Richards returned to Hawaii and was selected to be the Commander, B Company, 715th MI BN, 500th MI BDE followed by serving as the Squadron Intelligence Officer (S2), 2nd Squadron, 14th US Cavalry Regiment of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT), 25th Infantry Division. During his tour in the Republic of Korea with the Eighth U.S. Army, he served as the G2 Collections Manager. In Aurora, Colorado at Buckley Air Force Base, Major (P) Richards served as the 743rd Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) Mission Director, the 743rd Military Intelligence Battalion Operations Officer, and the 743rd Military Intelligence Battalion Executive Officer. Between 2019 and 2020 Major Richards served with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Land Component Command in Izmir Turkey as the Aide De Camp for the Commanding General. Major (P) Brandon Wayne Richards is currently assigned to the U.S. Army Pacific Command (USARPAC) on the G2 Staff.  

Beyond his days at Hampton University where he obtained his BS degree in Computer Science, Major (P) Richards furthered his educational and training endeavors by completing the Army Air Assault School, the Armor Officer Basic Course, the Military Intelligence Officer Advance Course, the Army Intelligence Development Program (AIDP) for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), the Army Command and General Staff College, and he received his Master of Science (MS) Degree from American Military University. He has received numerous awards and decorations for his service to include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, the Air Assault Badge, and the Army Basic Space Badge.  

Major (P) Brandon Richards comes from a family with a rich history of military service to our country to include his father, LTC (R) Wayne J. Richards US Army HU Class 1977, his uncle LTC (R) Ronald E. Richards US Army HU Class of 1975, and his aunt, and former Army Nurse Captain Sandra Wilkins Monroe HU Class 1978.  Major (P) Brandon W. Richards currently lives in Honolulu Hawaii with his lovely wife, Ashley Street Richards, also a graduate of Hampton University, Class of 2005, and their three children, Brielle 8, Braeden 7, and Bryson 4.  

Others in his family also attended Hampton University to include his mother Mrs. Sabrina Wilkins Richards Class of 1977, his Aunt(s) Mrs. Rosalyn Miltier Richards Class of 1975, and Ms. Annette R. Richards Class of 1983.
