To make the event more accessible for working parents, a "kid zone" was provided to entertain children while their parents were in session.
The MRS Grant team consists of Drs. Sylvia Rose, Ziette Hayes and Ruby Beale, professors in the School of Business. Antoinette Livingston, a professor in the department of Sociology. Leonard Allen-Smith, DeAnna Walker, Supra Mordecai, and Christina Coats served as graduate fellows.
MRS graduate fellows in addition to Wells Fargos representatives Kevin Lyles and Robin Friend led interactive discussions, presented important financial information and ended the event asking participants "Are you Financially, Healthy, Wealthy and Wise?"
"Being able to provide the Hampton University community with the opportunity to learn more about financial literacy has been a rewarding experience," said Allen-Smith.
"African-American people," he said, "have an enormous purchasing power in the country, yet most of us do not have the knowledge to manage our money effectively in order to position ourselves for financial freedom. I look forward to continuing my work with the university and the surrounding communities to promote financial literacy among our people!"
