Hampton University Hosts Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance Representatives

Hampton, Va. — Hampton University Associate Vice President of Governmental Relations, Bill Thomas and Vice President for Research and Associate Provost Dr. Michelle Penn-Marshall hosted Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance President Rick Weddle and Chairman John Padgett on campus Nov. 23.

HREDA praised Hampton for having one of the highest concentrations of science and technology patents and intellectual property in the region. HREDA  also recognized Hampton University is uniquely equipped and prepared to play a huge role in advancing the region's technology industry cluster.

The Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance (HREDA) is one of 46 Accredited Economic Development Organizations (AEDO) in the nation. Earning an AEDO accreditation informs clients and investors that we are superbly qualified to support a client’s business needs and effectively manage national and international marketing campaigns.

Representing 9 cities and 2 counties within the Commonwealth of Virginia's Hampton Roads region, HREDA highlights the unique assets of our 11 localities while emphasizing the collective strengths of the region.
