HAMPTON, Va. (December 21, 2018) - Hampton University head football coach Robert Prunty started a holiday tradition in his hometown of Chatham, Virginia, of giving out turkeys to anyone who would like one. He will continue this tradition for the third year on Saturday, December 22.
He keeps his word of “giving back” to his home community as Prunty will be handing out 300 dressed and frozen turkeys to anyone who asks in Chatham. Prunty started the tradition to help those in his hometown during the holiday season.
“My parents were always givers and taught us to be the same, cheerful givers as the Bible tells us,” he said. “Making people happy, especially during the holidays, makes it very special.” So on Saturday, he will be at Chatham’s Rotary Park to hand out 300 free Butterball turkeys for anyone who wants one.
