Hampton, VA - “The Hampton Roads Show,” on WAVY-TV10, highlighted Hampton University, early Wednesday, for its leadership and commitment to excellence among Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Hampton University's Senior Vice President, Paul Harris, explained why he chose to make Hampton his 'Home by the Sea.' "It had an ROTC program. It had a political science major. It had a beautiful campus and it had something VMI didn't have, girls," Harris said jokingly. More importantly, the leadership and direction of HU's President, Dr. William R. Harvey, had a strong impact on Harris and many more. "Over the course of his years at the helm at Hampton University, some 17 administrators have gone on to become presidents and chief executive officers of other institutions of higher learning. That's because he has taken the time to mentor, nurture and coach others along the way," said Harris.
