HAMPTON, Va. — (Nov. 13, 2017) The Office of Admission at Hampton University welcomed more than 2,000 high school students, parents and guardians, including 108 students invited to the Honors Visitation program, during the 2017 Fall Open House Nov. 11.
The prospective Hampton University students, parents and guardians began the day with a formal welcome in the Hampton University Convocation Center from University President Dr. William R. Harvey, HU Administrators and members of the Students Recruitment Team.
“Now that you have chosen to further your education, you must choose which University to attend, and your decision must be based on the ability of the institution to offer you a quality education,” said Dr. Harvey. “Quality is key. As you visit our campus today, the administrators, faculty, and students at Hampton University hope you will give serious consideration to selecting our University for your undergraduate educational experience. In doing so, you will become part of one of the most dynamic and successful institutions in the United States. Hampton University has a commitment to excellence, equal opportunity, and quality education. We offer excellent academic programs and support services for all our students.”
The day also included a campus tour, as well as student and parent panel discussions. An Academic/Student Services Fair hosted in Hampton’s three-story state of the art Student Center allowed the prospective students, parents and guardians to meet representatives from all academic departments plus Residence Life, Freshman Studies, Honors College, Student Financial Aid and other student services departments, leaving students and parents impressed.
“I want to thank you and your staff for such an amazing weekend,” said prospective student Mikaili Azziz. “Honors Visitation Weekend at Hampton was an experience that nothing has come close to in all of my college visits.”
“Thank you, thank you and thrice thank you for such a memorable weekend,”said prospective parent Charles E. Birdsong III. “To say that my family was blessed by your kindness, care, and generosity is an understatement. I am truly humbled and thankful. Words cannot accurately convey the feelings that my wife, Pam, daughter Camille and I are experiencing at this very moment. Our household is abuzz with excitement, planning and preparation for Camille to become a Hamptonian.”
