HAMPTON, Va (Mar. 19, 2018) — Hampton University’s 40th Annual High School Day is April 6, 2018 on the University’s main campus. This year's theme is “Hampton University: The Standard of Excellence.”

At the free, all-day event, prospective students will have the opportunity to speak to faculty and staff from various academic departments at the Open House and Academic/Student Activities Fair. Throughout the day the Hampton University Student Recruitment Team (SRT), which helps plan the event, will provide campus tours.

"Hampton University High School Day is one of the most enriching programs offered by the Office of Admission and Student Recruitment Team," said Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey. “Since I have been President we have welcomed students from literally all over the country. I have enjoyed each moment. This program was created to introduce you to Hampton University and acquaint you with our outstanding academic programs, services and beautiful physical plant.”

"High School Day is an opportunity for prospective students to get an up-close and personal experience with Hampton University," said Dean of Admission Angela Nixon Boyd. “We expect to showcase the university’s excellent academic programs, our service units, and our awesome students!”

Planned activities include a welcome program, a student services organizational fair, academic open houses, and an exciting performance by the Marching Force band.

"I hope all high school students take full advantage of all Hampton has to offer on High School Day,” said Reina Ransom, SRT President. “This is their opportunity to enjoy the presence of all faculty, staff, current students and other prospective students. The whole purpose of SRT is to encourage students to attend HU by highlighting all of its benefits and its rich legacy. Our goal on High School Day is showcase our campus, and give visitors a social and academic snapshot of the University. Enjoy your day as a Hamptonian and see why so many of us call Hampton our 'Home By The Sea.’"

The schedule of events will begin at the Hampton University Convocation Center at 9 a.m. with a “Welcome Program,” which will be followed by SRT guided tours around campus, academic open houses at each school, an administrative/ student activity fair and a performance from the Hampton University Marching Force.
