On Thursday, Sept. 28, the Career and Counseling Center hosted its annual career fair for current students at the Hampton University Convocation Center. Over 2,000 students were in attendance to meet with over 115 companies including Mastercard, Nielsen, PWC and Target.
Corporations, government agencies and educational institutions from all over the country had the opportunity to acquaint students with their organizations while recruiting potential employees.
“This was the first year in a while we had this number of diverse companies to recruit, we received great feedback and very great responses from companies about students,” said Bessie Willis, Career and Counseling Center director.
Many students received on-site employment offers and interviews from companies in hopes for a possible future internship or employment. High praise was also given to Hampton University students from many company recruiters.
“The students were bright, engaged and had good questions,” said Kyle Hartwick of the National Institute of Health
Not only was praise given from companies that were in attendance but from students as well. Many students were very proud of not only their personal success from the career fair but on the overall success of the career fair as a whole.
"Attending this semester's career fair was undoubtedly one of the best professional development experiences that I have had since attending Hampton,” said Julia -Ivy Chavis, a senior. “With over one hundred companies in attendance to recruit, the opportunities for professional conferences, internships, and full-time positions were endless. I was fortunate enough to be offered multiple interviews as well as internships on the spot.”
The Career and Counseling Center will host its second Career Fair of the school year during the spring semester, February 2017.
