HAMPTON, Va. (June 28, 2018) — Lars Minns, a Hampton University alumni, was recently promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer for Mercedes-Benz, USA with responsibility for USA, Canada, and Mexico. In this new position, Minns will lead the organization in designing, implementing, and executing HR strategies that directly align with the company’s strategic objectives for the Sales, Marketing, and Distribution of passenger cars in the US, Mexico and Canada.
During his time at Hampton, Minns was involved in the International Students Association and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management in 1998. After graduating, Minns worked as a recruiter for Aerotek, followed by a position as an account manager for the Net Tech Group. After that, Minns worked for The Home Depot from 2005 until 2015 in several capacities, the last serving as Sr. Mgr. of Talent Acquisition where he led his team in executing talent acquisition strategies for the company’s fastest growing business segment. He joined Mercedes-Benz USA in 2015.

Minns was born in the Bahamas and now resides in Atlanta. He has a beautiful wife and three adoring kids and is very excited about this new adventure. “I love the opportunity to maximize the efforts and capabilities of people to help foster great decisions, which lead to a great culture, and that drives business,” Minns said.
Having attended one of the most prestigious HBCU’s, Minns offers advice to current students to enjoy their time in college, be social, but remain focused on academics. “Prepare for your career in your junior year. There is a maturity that’s needed when you enter your senior year in order to handle the competing demands and that requires practice. Junior year is practice time and senior year is show time,” Minns said.
