In an effort to provide additional opportunities for students, Hampton University signed a memorandum of agreement with the U.S. Coast Guard on Dec. 14.
The agreement is designed to optimize outreach and engagement efforts and synergize the Coast Guard’s overall civilian and military officer recruiting effort, while assisting HU by providing additional tuition-saving choices and academic options/solutions for HU students and professors.
The agreement was signed by HU Executive Vice President and Provost Dr. JoAnn Haysbert and Rear Admiral David Throop.
HU will identify student opportunities as well as potential faculty research and development of subject matter expertise in areas of interest to the Coast Guard. While aggressively seeking highly qualified students for service to our country, the Coast Guard has also established a sub-council focused on increasing the number of HU students in its ranks though recruitment and retention efforts.
