Hampton, Va.—Hampton Players & Company presents “Romeo and Juliet” in the Little Theatre of Armstrong Hall at Hampton University on Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 8:00 p.m., with a Sunday matinee on April 13, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.
“Romeo & Juliet” is William Shakespeare’s most famous and popular play for good reason. With its universal theme of young love, the play mesmerizes audiences of all ages with its bawdy comedy, eloquent language, and soul-wrenching emotion. The play abounds with dashing swordplay and well-known dialogue that will pull you even deeper into the lovers’ tale of woe. When Romeo and Juliet fall in love, you will too.
Performers Gavin Harden (Romeo) and Imani Parker (Juliet) play the teenage lovers who defy the odds and their families to be together quite beautifully.
The director, Robin Jackson Boisseau, has served as HU assistant professor of theater since 2001, and her leadership is nothing short of spectacular in this production.
Ticket prices are $10 for general admission, $8 for senior citizens, children, and non-HU students. HU Students with their ID are free.
