HU Athletic Director Named to CIT Tournament Selection Committee

HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University athletic director Eugene Marshall, Jr. was named yesterday to the 10-person selection committee for the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).
Marshall, in his third year at the helm of Hampton athletics, was a successful college basketball coach for many years at various levels before moving full-time into administration.  He coached at Ramapo College, College of Staten Island as well as Pratt Institute.
A 1981 graduate of Northeastern University, Marshall earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He later completed his Master's degree in sports leadership at Northeastern in 2010.
While an undergraduate at Northeastern, Marshall was a member of the Huskies' men's basketball team under former UConn head coach and Basketball Hall of Famer Jim Calhoun. He also served as a volunteer assistant coach at his alma mater.
The selection committee will name the 32-team field for the ninth annual CIT Tournament on Sunday, March 12 and first round games will begin the next night.   Joining him on the committee are the athletic directors from UC Davis, Jackson State, Cal State Fullerton, South Alabama, Fort Wayne, New Jersey Inst. of Technology, VCU, Loyola (Md.) and Columbia.
