Seymour graduated from Hampton University in 1988 with an undergraduate Degree in Mass Media. Her first job came in the fall of 1988 at ABC News in Washington, DC as a Desk and later Production Assistant. Having spent nearly two years at the network, learning under veterans like Carole Simpson, David Brinkley and Ted Koppel, Seymour headed back to school to pursue a Graduate Degree in Communications at the University of South Carolina at Columbia. After years of working behind the scenes in production, Seymour's first on air big break came in the winter of 1993 in Utica, New York at WUTR-TV.
In the summer of 1999, Seymour got the call she'd been waiting for from her adopted hometown of Washington, DC. Seymour joined the ranks at the FOX affiliate in the Nation's Capital in September of 1999 and is currently the morning anchor of the Emmy Award winning FOX 5 News Morning. In her 17 years reporting and anchoring in Washington, she has covered four Presidential Inaugurations, two Papal visits, the attacks of September 11th and the DC snipers and countless other stories of immense local impact. When she is not working on air, Seymour is an active member of the greater Washington, DC community and spends a great deal of her "spare" time speaking and volunteering her time to further causes close to her heart such as the empowerment of women and girls and leveling the playing field for communities of color.
Seymour is a member of the Washington, DC Hampton Alumni Association and a proud second generation member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. having pledged at HU's own Gamma Iota Chapter in the Spring of 1986. She is currently an active member of Delta in the Potomac Valley Alumnae Chapter. Seymour and her husband Marc Clarke are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters, Sydney, Skylar and Spencer. Of all the awards and accolades over her 23 years in the TV business, her greatest honor is being inducted into Hampton's Journalism and Communications School Hall of Fame in 2012. Seymour credits Hampton University with making her not only the Journalist, but the person she is today and for that, she is eternally grateful.
The Founder's Day Ceremony will be live streamed at media.hamptonu.edu.
