Hampton, Va. – Coastal Virginia Magazine has named Christopher Sinesi, M.D., medical director of the Hampton University Proton Therapy Institute (HUPTI) a top doc for the Hampton Roads region.
Approximately 3,700 doctors in the Hampton Roads area were surveyed and asked to nominate their colleagues from over 50 specialty categories.
According to Coastal Virginia Magazine, “Top Doctors is a nomination-based project in which we ask physicians in the area to vote for doctors in various specialties…who exemplify excellence in their specialties.”
“[The Top Docs list] is a service to our readers, giving them a doctor’s perspective regarding the top doctors in over 50 specialty areas. The list is intended to allow patients to see and celebrate their doctors who make the list. It also gives healthcare seekers a place to see doctors highlighted for achievement and reputation, and can be a great tool for finding the right doctors for their needs.”
“Dr. Sinesi is one of the best things that has ever happened to me,” said Larry Davis, of Portsmouth, who was treated for prostate cancer in December of 2014. He’s your confidante, your friend, your consoler. You can tell that Dr. Sinesi loves what he does and he’s very good at it. He makes you feel that secure in helping you fight cancer. That is a fact. I didn’t have any side effects and I still feel great two years later.”
HUPTI is the eighth proton facility in the U.S. and the largest of its kind in the world. To date, HUPTI has treated over thousands of patients with prostate, head and neck, breast, brain, pancreatic, lung, pediatric and other cancers with proton therapy. Proton therapy is able to target the tumor only, while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. The actual treatment of protons lasts two minutes or less. Patients are treated five days a week, from one to nine weeks.
