HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 28, 2017) – In "The Bloomberg Way," readers are instructed to "follow the money." That’s what Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications students learned in the second installment of an agreement with the school and Bloomberg publications.
Over a two-day period, Bloomberg News Editor and Head of Journalism Training Bill Austin conducted question and answer sessions with business journalism classes.
Austin, an editor and head of journalism training at Bloomberg in New York, visited professor Butch Maier's business journalism and advanced reporting classes, as well as during a student session at the Scripps auditorium.
"In a span of three presentations in less than 24 hours, Bill challenged and inspired our students to improve their reporting, writing and headline-writing skills," Maier said. "Several students told me they now plan to apply for Bloomberg internships, which would be terrific opportunities for them."
Austin’s visit is the second this month from Bloomberg News, the world’s largest financial News Service.
Tom Contiliano, Chief of Client Relations with Bloomberg, last met with Business Journalism students to show them how to use their new Bloomberg Professional Terminal, a subscription information database that is being offered cost-free to Scripps as part of an agreement with Bloomberg.
