HAMPTON, Va. (January 8, 2020) – AT&T Inc., a diversified, global leader in telecommunications, media and entertainment, and technology has partnered with Hampton University’s Hampton U Online in the provision of online learning for its more than 250,000 employees.
As AT&T continues to create a culture of continuous learning for employees, it’s part of the company’s work with external organizations and universities to help create opportunities for its employees that lead to degrees or certifications in specialized fields.
“We are delighted to begin this relationship with AT&T. Our online learning efforts began in 2010. Since that time, we have added more content, and more value for users of our services. We are certain that AT&T employees taking courses or seeking a degree with us will be ecstatic with our program offerings,” said Dr. William R. Harvey, President of Hampton University.
The key program, which secured this new relationship, is Hampton’s Master of Science in Information Assurance (Cyber Security) Program. The Master of Science in Information Assurance (Cyber Security) focuses on providing a broad interdisciplinary information assurance education that prepares graduates to successfully defend, protect, design, implement and maintain secure information and information systems. Further, due to its excellence in this area, Hampton University’s Department of Computer Science is designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and National Security Agency (NSA) through 2021.
Academic programs offered at Hampton U Online include doctoral programs in Educational Management, Counseling, Nursing and Business, as well as master’s, bachelor’s and associate degree programs. Certificate courses are also offered.
“We are thrilled with this new collaboration. This effort is part of what we see as a trend for companies to remain focused on their core competencies, while driving efforts to increase the skills of their staffs. I truly believe that the skills the AT&T employees will gain will be immediately relevant and will be extremely valuable and useful in making sure AT&T remains a top tech company,” said Dr. Kim Luckes, Dean of the University College.
Dr. Luckes added, “We’ve been building and investing in our online platforms over the years to meet business needs in this regard. While our Cyber Security program is top importance, I believe that our myriad of other programs will prove relevant, useful, and of interest to AT&T and its employees.”
