HU Students Receive Scholarships from Apple, Inc. Diversity Initiative

Two Hampton University students were named among 30 HBCU students to receive scholarships from Apple in its $40 Million Diversity Effort.

Lauren Patterson, junior computer science major from Philadelphia, PA and Malik Jones, junior journalism major from Alpharetta, GA, both received a one-year college scholarship and a summer internship program at Apple's Cupertino, California headquarters. They received their scholarships during the Thurgood Marshall College Fund Annual Leadership Institute in Washington D.C., on Nov. 16.

Hampton University and ODU Students Awarded Norfolk Environment Action Award

Hampton, Va. – The Hampton University Department of Architecture, in partnership with the Old Dominion University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has been awarded a 2015 Norfolk Environmental Action Award by the Norfolk Environmental Commission.

Hampton and ODU students were honored for their contributions towards improving Norfolk's environmental sustainability.

Hampton University Partners with Brandeis to Promote Diversity in Material Science Research: NSF Grant to Expand Research Opportunities for HU Faculty and Students

Hampton, Va.- Hampton University has been awarded $3 million from the National Science Foundation to bolster HU faculty material science research activities. The grant will serve as a catalyst for the recruitment and retention of talented African-American and female students who pursue research careers in material science and engineering.

The award from the NSF Division of Materials Research's Partnership for Research in Education and Materials (PREM) program will expand an established collaboration between Hampton University-based materials science researchers and colleagues at the Brandeis University Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC).

HU Masters in Medical Science Program Prepares Students for Future

The Hampton University Masters in Medical Science Program has a history of successfully preparing students for the top medical schools in the country.

HU alumnus Nicole Neal was named winner of the Memorial Awards Medical School Scholarship and has received a four-year scholarship to Mercer University School of Medicine.

Neal, a 2015 graduate of the HU Masters in Medical Science Program, credits the program for putting her on the right path to excelling in medical school.

Hampton University senior Tanesha Johnson has been named a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship, the world's oldest international scholarship.

The Rhodes Scholarship, launched in 1903, is in its second century of operation and has long been globally respected as the gold standard of international scholarships.
