HAMPTON, Va. (June 28, 2018) – Incoming freshmen that have been admitted into the Hampton University School of Engineering and Technology, which houses the Department of Chemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture, and Aviation, are participating in a five-week Pre-College program, which started on June 15, 2018.
HAMPTON, Va. (June 28, 2018) — Lars Minns, a Hampton University alumni, was recently promoted to Chief Human Resources Officer for Mercedes-Benz, USA with responsibility for USA, Canada, and Mexico. In this new position, Minns will lead the organization in designing, implementing, and executing HR strategies that directly align with the company’s strategic objectives for the Sales, Marketing, and Distribution of passenger cars in the US, Mexico and Canada.

Harvey and his 40 years of unparalleled leadership, was immortalized with the creation and awarding of the inaugural William R. Harvey Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 HBCU Awards in Baltimore.

HAMPTON, Va. (June 14, 2018) — Dr. Arlene J. Montgomery (PI), Professor of the Department of Graduate Nursing Education in the Hampton University’s School of Nursing, has been awarded a $200,486 grant from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)/ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP). The grant’s purpose is to help increase the number of qualified nursing faculty to facilitate education of the nurses needed to address the nursing workforce shortage for the academic year 2018-2019.

(June 13, 2018) — Hampton University is hosting an Equestrian Summer Camp starting on June 18 for kids aged 7-17 who are interested in gaining knowledge of all types of horses, riding equipment and terminology. NORFOLK, Va. (June 1, 2018) – The Hampton University sailing team finished competition Wednesday at the 2018 Gill Co-Ed National Championships with an 11th place finish. The top nine teams advanced to the championship final, which will take place Thursday and Friday. It is the second-straight year the Pirates have finished in 11th place.
HAMPTON, Va. (June 4, 2018) — Hampton University Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications has chosen two recipients of the 2017-2018 Joseph K. Bose Endowed Scholarship: current HU student Donald Huskey and alumnus Phillip Jackson, a 2017 graduate of the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications. They both received $1,000.

(May 29, 2018) – Katiso Mabulu is a 2018 Hampton University Electrical Engineering graduate and has recently been offered a National Science Foundation (NSF) supported Strategic Advancement of Rising Scholars (STARS) Fellowship. This Fellowship is awarded based on outstanding academic achievement with admission into the Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. program at Northeastern University.

Dear Hamptonians, The Hampton University Administration has taken swift action to resolve issues revealed during and since last week’s town hall meeting. We have held a series of meetings with students across campus including student leaders, fraternities, sororities and an open meeting yesterday with students on the Virginia Cleveland lawn. HAMPTON, Va. (February 20, 2018) — Reports from athletic officials at some MEAC schools that Hampton University has opted out of playing Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) football opponents in the 2018 season are inaccurate and misleading. The truth is that Hampton University has offered to play a full schedule of MEAC football games in 2018, but the MEAC refuses to sit down and talk to Hampton University about any transition to the Big South Conference. Instead, they have issued a set of unreasonable demands which Hampton University finds totally unacceptable.

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Hampton University senior Jermaya Patterson didn’t waste one minute of her summer vacation. Instead of living a life of leisure, she’s given back to her hometown by helping young girls through a program she founded: “Black Girls Do STEM” (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The free program launched June 5 at a YMCA in Savannah, Ga.
